Chinese Finance Options Examined for SE Asia Hydropower Sector

DFDL Partners Walter Heiser and Ivy Liu and Legal Adviser Kunal Sachdev examine Chinese financing options for hydropower projects in Southeast Asia in the latest issue of the International Journal on Hydropower and Dams. The piece uses Chinese financing of hydropower projects in the Lao PDR, in particular, to outline the traditional and potential models that might be applied elsewhere across the region.  Models considered include hybrid project financing, supplier credit, promissory note factoring and sale-leaseback, as well as possible new options from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The International Journal on Hydropower and Dams is one of the leading industry resources for hydropower developers and suppliers.  The current Asia edition coincides with the Asia 2018 hydropower conference held in Da Nang, Vietnam, earlier this month.
