Clint O’Connell Joins RCEP for Cambodia Businesses Workshop

On 10 February 2022, Clint O’Connell (Partner, Cambodia Deputy Managing Director, Head of Cambodia Tax Practice) participated in the workshop ‘RCEP Rules of Origin and What They Mean for Cambodia’ co-organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (“ERIA”) Capacity Building Programme and the Ministry of Commerce in Cambodia. With over 100 participants, this session focused on key strategies to help businesses unlock the full potential of RCEP by understanding the rules of origin (“ROO”). Clint joined the second discussion focusing on the private sector’s perspectives on opportunities. He explained why it’s important for businesses and investors to understand the ROO and how they can benefit from it. He discussed the different levels of understanding and how it defers from one sector to another.

The audience gained valuable insights on how RCEP encourages and promotes investment in Cambodia and had their queries succinctly addressed during the Q&A session.
