We are pleased to announce that DFDL, together with CBRE, co-hosted a very successful Real Estate Seminar on December 5th. Gathering 180 international and local professionals in Phnom Penh, the Seminar’s focus was on “how to achieve your goals in frontier markets”, mainly in Cambodia and Myanmar, and was also an occasion to launch DFDL’s Real Estate Investment Guide.
An array of speakers and panel members highlighted different angles of the topic and gave their unique perspectives. DFDL Indonesia-based adviser started off with an introduction to the real estate market in the region and was the Master of Ceremonies throughout the Seminar, garnering enthusiasm and maintaining interest throughout the morning. Marc Townsend, Managing Director of CBRE (Vietnam), gave a market overview of the office, retail and residential sector in the region emphasizing the diversity of the property markets in Southeast Asia.
Rolf Winand and Guillaume Massin explained how to structure real estate projects in Cambodia by providing an overview of the property regulations, foreign ownership structures and tax issues. Martin Desautels, Rolf Winand and Henri-Frédéric Hibon spoke about the regulatory environment in Myanmar, which included an analysis of foreign ownership constraints and the opportunities under the New Myanmar investment Law.
A panel discussion concluded the conference with Daniel Parkes (General Manager of Hongkong Land, Cambodia), Christophe Forsinetti (Co-founder and CEO, DEVENCO) and Pierre-Jean Malgouyres (General Director, Archetype Group) also giving short presentations and answering questions.
The Real Estate Seminar was preceded by a DFDL and CBRE exclusive VIP Cocktail held at the Sofitel’s Club Millésime on December 4th. Never open to the public and reserved exclusively for its VIP guests, Sofitel opened its Club Millésime for this Cocktail, which gave the event an exceptional and unique flair. During this Cocktail, Marcus and Martin gave a lively speech launching DFDL’s brand new Real Estate Investment Guide and Marc Townsend of CBRE was also invited to give a warm welcome.
