DFDL Advises EMA Power on USD 16 million Power Sector Joint Venture in Bangladesh

EMA Power Investment Ltd. (“EMA”) a United Arab Emirates company recently signed a significant joint-venture agreement with Energypac Power Venture, a subsidiary of Energypac. This deal worth approximately USD 16 million represents a sizeable foreign investment into Bangladesh’s burgeoning energy sector and will be used to finance a 115 MW heavy fuel oil-fired power plant project in Thakurgaon province in the Northwest of the country. DFDL Bangladesh provided notable assistance in bringing this deal to fruition and included the performance of complex due diligence, review of contracts, negotiation and drafting of the joint-venture agreement, providing a Bangladesh power sector overview to EMA, and the drafting of key transaction documents.
