DFDL was honored to be named as the 2022 Cambodia Tax Firm of the Year at the 12th annual International Tax Review Asia-Pacific Tax Awards, regaining a title that DFDL had previously won for four consecutive years.
The prestigious regional award, which was announced via a virtual ceremony on 25 August 2022, followed months of research, interviews and peer review conducted by the International Tax Review (ITR), an industry-leading tax publication. DFDL was also shortlisted for the title of 2022 Vietnam Tax Firm of the Year.
As ITR Asia-Pacific pointed out in its announcement, the “past 12 months was laden with challenges for tax practitioners, taxpayers and tax authorities,” citing the rapid digitization driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, the “seismic shifts” in tax policies across the region, and the new G20 agreement for a 15% minimum corporate tax rate.
Submissions made by DFDL Cambodia for the 2022 award also reflected these trends with an emphasis on e-commerce, tax audits and transfer pricing
DFDL was awarded Cambodia Tax Firm of the Year from 2017 to 2020. In 2020, DFDL was also honored as Regional Tax Firm of the Year and Vietnam Tax Disputes and Litigation Firm of the Year.
In acknowledgment of the 2022 award, Clint O’Connell, Partner and Head of Cambodia’s Tax and Customs Practice expressed “with COVID disruptions last year was challenging but at the same time professionally very awarding. Working with some of the world’s leading e-commerce entities and the Cambodian tax authority with respect to the implementation of the VAT e-commerce regulations was a highlight and it was also very pleasing to see our acclaimed tax disputes team rise to the new audit challenges presented to them.
