DFDL’s Clint O’Connell Featured in CIR Leadership Series

The DFDL team is pleased to announce that Clint O’Connell (Partner, Cambodia Deputy Managing Director & Head of the Cambodia Tax Practice) was featured as a guest expert on the Leader Talks series presented by Cambodian Investment Review (CIR), a media outlet for foreign direct investment in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Mr. Clint O’Connell was interviewed about his 14 years of experience in Cambodia’s tax industry, recent modernization trends in the tax sector, and DFDL being awarded 2022 Cambodia Tax Firm of the Year by the at the 12th annual International Tax Review Asia-Pacific Tax Awards.

“DFDL Cambodia has won the ITR Cambodian Tax Firm award five times in the last six years,” Mr. Clint O’Connell was quoted as saying in CIR. He continued: “It is something we do not take for granted and we are very thankful for our clients who have trusted us to act as their tax advisor.”

The extensive interview noted that Mr. Clint O’Connell had previously worked with the Tax Working Group, the Government-Private Sector Working Group-D an the EuroCham Tax Committee. He is currently the chairmen of the newly established Tax Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia.

The modernization of the Cambodian tax system — including concepts such as transfer pricing, double tax agreements, taxation of e-commerce, securities, and trusts — prompted Mr. O’Connell to tell CIR that the years ahead would be a busy, exciting time for tax professionals.

The tax disputes process is a procedural process, which is well suited to those with a legal and tax background. It is also a process where experience and relationships are key,” he told CIR.

“Our dedicated tax disputes team at DFDL has more than 10 years of on-the-ground experience and our results speak for themselves,” he added.
