We are pleased to announce that James Finch, Managing Director of DFDL’s practice in Myanmar, was a panelist on “Developing Myanmar’s Energy Resources” at the US-Myanmar Trade and Investment symposium “The path forward” jointly organized by the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and The United States Chamber of Commerce on February 25, 2013, in Yangon, Myanmar.

The symposium brought together more than 400 senior business executives and government officials from both countries to identify Myanmar’s economic development priorities and objectives, explore opportunities for expanding US-Myanmar trade and investment across a range of key industry sectors, and build business partnerships. The welcoming speech was given by U Win Aung, the president of UMFCCI and the opening address by Jose Fernandez, United States Assistant Secretary of State for Economic & Business Affairs.

Symposium participants included leading Myanmar business executives, US executives participating in a US Chamber of Commerce business mission to Myanmar following the symposium, other US executives from around the ASEAN region, government officials from both countries, development specialists, academics, and others.

The symposium was part of the business mission to Yangon and Naypyidaw organized by the US Chamber of Commerce that took place between February 24 and 28, 2013 and consisted of a series of meetings in Yangon and Naypyidaw with Ministers, members of parliament, and other senior officials.

The US Chamber of Commerce, located in Washington DC, is the world’s largest business organization representing the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions.
