On 10 December 2019, CCI France Myanmar organized its first edition of the Connect@Breakfast event series, at the Melia Yangon Hotel. This first edition was dedicated to the Myanmar Banking Sector. Finance experts came together to discuss the latest trends for Banks operating in Myanmar.
Nishant Choudhary from DFDL Myanmar, who is Head of Banking & Finance Practice, discussed general lending and financing issues faced by banks in the country while other speakers discussed banks’ product capabilities, how to optimize service levels and manage systemic risks and what foreign organizations can do to mitigate risks when operating in Myanmar.
Nishant shared his insights and expertise by discussing restrictions under the Foreign Management Law 2012 and general Myanmar lending, explained the offshore and onshore loan process along with foreign and Myanmar licensed banks, the recent licensing procedures. He also spoke about securities and mortgages.
The presentations concluded with an engaging Q&A session with interesting and thought provoking exchanges between the panelists and guests in attendance.
