Jack Sheehan and Jonathan Blaine Discuss ASEAN Investment Opportunities
On 14 August 2019, DFDL in collaboration with the Canadian – Thai Chamber of Commerce organized a breakfast seminar on ‘Choosing Your ASEAN Investment or Expansion Destination(s): How Does Thailand Compare with Other Countries?’ The event, held in Bangkok, brought together a room filled of business enthusiasts seeking new investment opportunities within the ASEAN region. Jack Sheehan (Partner; Head of Regional Tax Practice) and Jonathan Blaine (Tax Director; Head of Compliance and Investigations Practice) shared with the audience a geo-economic overview of Cambodia, the Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. They discussed and analyzed the various tax and investment incentives offered by ASEAN countries along with outlining the opportunities, challenges and pitfalls when investing in each of these countries. They went deeper by explaining different possible scenarios by using interesting case studies. The event concluded with a lively and engaging Q&A session. The well attended event was enjoyed by all in attendance and had very favorable feedback.
