DFDL is honored to sponsor and participate in a momentous tax seminar organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (“AmCham“) with a keynote address from H.E. Kong Vibol, Director General of General Department of Taxation (GDT), and panel discussions with tax experts from the GDT and the private sector.
The in-person event, “Tax Updates and Audits,” will be held at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh from 8am to 12pm on 28 September 2022.
Clint O’Connell (DFDL Tax Partner and Chairman of the AmCham Tax Committee) will provide a presentation on recent tax updates and will be a featured tax expert on both panels, the first on the topic of e-commerce, and the second on transfer pricing and other key issues in tax audits. Both panels will be moderated by Anthony Galliano, president of AmCham.
The workshop is designed to explain some of the recent measures by the GDT and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to modernize the Cambodian tax system, including VAT on e-Commerce, incentives for voluntary disclosures and laws for investment incentives.
Similarly, as AmCham pointed out, tax audits continue to play a major role for the Royal Government to gather increasing annual tax revenue. The seminar will discuss the tax audit process and common tax audit issues experienced by taxpayers in Cambodia, including statute of limitations, supporting documentation, and the tax dispute appeal process.
