DFDL Cambodia Discusses Investment Strategies for Chinese Investors in Cambodia

On 10 July 2019, DFDL Cambodia in collaboration with the Bank of China organized a morning seminar on “Investment strategies for Chinese investors in Cambodia” at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra. The session was well received by over 200 participants in attendance. The audience gained key insights on the latest developments taking hold across both the Cambodian tax and investment landscape. The various speakers elaborated on methods that enterprises can use to avail of special business incentives, how to optimally structure businesses, along with expected changes in the forthcoming investment law. The Council for the Development of Cambodia (“CDC”) gave updates on new features of the draft amendment to the Investment Law in Cambodia. Guillaume Massin, DFDL Cambodia Managing Director and Partner, discussed What DFDL’s role is in Cambodia and what we have seen – where we have changed and general risk management. Clint O’Connell, DFDL Cambodia Head of Tax and Partner, focused on special economic zones (“SEZs”) and Qualified Investment Projects (“QIPs”) but also on new developments in the tax sector (Double Tax Agreements, Transfer Pricing, and Tax Audits). Chesda Teng, DFDL Cambodia Corporate & Commercial Senior Consultant, provided an overview on Cambodian labor legislation and recent regulatory developments. Chuanhow Tan, DFDL Cambodia Banking and Finance Senior Consultant, summarized the morning seminar by Key Investment Considerations & General Risk Management For Chinese Companies Investing in Foreign Jurisdiction.
