Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership – How Does Cambodia Stand to Benefit? | 21 October 2021

DFDL is pleased to invite you to our exclusive webinar that examines the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (“RCEP”) and how Cambodia stands to be a primary beneficiary when RCEP comes into effect in the coming months.

RCEP is set to become the world’s largest free trade agreement (“FTA“) comprising of 15 member countries including Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Korea and ASEAN countries. When in force it will cover more the 3.6 billion people (48.1% of the world’s population). The combined GDP of RCEP member states was approximately USD28.5 trillion in 2019 which accounted for 32.7% of global GDP. The combined trade of RCEP member states exceeds USD11.2 trillion or approximately 29.5% of global trade.

So what is RCEP and how does Cambodia’s economy in particular stand to benefit from RCEP when looking at its post COVID recovery?

Our guest expert speaker, Ms. Deborah Elms, the Executive Director of the Asian Trade Centre, will give an overview of the salient features of RCEP with references as to how it will help encourage and promote investment to Cambodia.

DFDL Partner, Clint O’Connell, will put RCEP in context with other recent significant developments such as the new Law on Investment, FTA’s with China (“CCFTA”), Korea (“CKFTA”) and the Generalized System of Preferences (“GSP”) agreement with the United Kingdom.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to hear from our team of expert speakers to understand what’s coming up for the Cambodia economy with this RCEP!
