AmCham Cambodia, in collaboration with Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and Nabarro LLP organized a seminar on “A Changing World: International arbitration for commercial disputes in an integrated ASEAN” on Tuesday, 18 October 2016 at Topaz Restaurant, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
International and local commercial arbitration has become a preferred method to resolve commercial disputes in Asia. As the ASEAN market continues the path towards integration and with the growth of transnational economic activity, there is a need for a fair, efficient and effective procedure to resolve commercial disputes. To ensure protection of their investments, commercial parties should consider the mechanisms available to them for resolving disputes. Throughout the region, arbitration is increasingly the first choice for foreign and local investors.
Topics discussed included:
- Effective resolution of cross-border disputes in the ASEAN region, at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).
- Introduction to Commercial Arbitration, comparison of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
- The role of National Commercial Arbitration Centre (NCAC) and recent development in Arbitration in Cambodia.
- The fundamentals of international commercial arbitration as a means of resolving transnational commercial disputes.
