Clint O’Connell (Partner, Cambodia Deputy Managing Director & Head of Cambodia Tax Practice) was recently quoted in a Phnom Penh Post article: ‘Law on Investment: Resetting Cambodia’s business landscape?’.
This article discusses Cambodia’s post-COVID-19 investment landscape with a focus on the new Law on Investment (‘LoI’) and its goals in the post-pandemic recovery strategy.
Clint shares his view on this law and comments that Cambodia can truly benefit from its timing post-COVID-19 together with other key implementations such as regional free trade agreements and a growing tax treaty network. As noted by Clint, the new LoI is one of the pieces of the puzzle that have been recently introduced to improve the foreign investors’ journey in Cambodia. With this law, he believes Cambodia is on the right track in the changing global business landscape with the emergence of technology trends. Clint says the law differs favorably from other ASEAN countries regarding its incentive guarantees and protections afforded to foreign investors.
