Phnom Penh is humming with activity this week, as the ASEAN delegation is in town, and DFDL is a part of it.
We are pleased to announce that we are sponsoring the 2nd ASEAN-EU Business Summit which will take place this weekend and next week, 31st March-2nd April. This important meeting between the ASEAN business community and its European counterpart is scheduled to take place in Phnom Penh for the first time, making this a momentous occasion and an event DFDL is proud to be participating in.
Drawing 300 international business leaders, the aim of the summit is to discuss opportunities, challenges and recommendations for an improved business environment for one of the world’s most promising emerging markets, ASEAN, and the world’s largest economic community, the European Union. The 2012 ASEAN-EU Business Summit will be hosted at the new Sofitel Phokeetra, Phnom Penh, and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen will officially open the Summit. Other key participants include H.E. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Karel de Gucht, EU Commissioner for Trade and H.E. Cham Prasidh, Minister of Commerce and ASEAN Economic Ministers Chair, Kingdom of Cambodia.
DFDL’s own Martin Desautels, Managing Partner, has been invited to co-lead the legal services B2B meeting on Monday, April 2nd, and will be presenting on key legal considerations in Cambodia. Other topics to be discussed include tourism, manufacturing, services, infrastructure and connectivity, agri-business, export-garments, building business in Myanmar and corporate social responsibility. We are honored to have this opportunity to speak and participate in this Summit and we view this as a remarkable development for Cambodia.
