Nishant Choudhary and Bhawna Bakshi Speak on India-Myanmar Relations

An International Conference, ‘India-Myanmar Relations: The Way Forward’ took place at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Yangon on 10-11 November 2017.

This auspicious event was organized to mark and celebrate the social, cultural, and economic ties between India and Myanmar stretching back over 70 years.

The event was presented by the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, Kolkata, and promoted by the Myanmar-India Business Chamber, the Indian Embassy in Yangon, along with other reputable organizations including the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (a major Indian public enterprise), RIS and the Mizzima Media Group from Myanmar.

Expert panelists in various fields from both countries engaged and enlightened those in attendance, sharing their thoughts and viewpoints on a wide variety of topics. These ranged from cultural heritage, security cooperation, and trade to commerce, economic cooperation, and tourism.

The significance of this event was lent additional weight by the presence of numerous high ranking dignitaries from both nations including the Chief Minister of Manipur, the Chief Minister of Yangon, and the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, among others.

DFDL was represented by Mr. Nishant Choudhary as a panelist and keynote speaker, along with Ms. Bhawna Bakshi, who served as the master of ceremonies at the event. Nishant’s well-received presentation on trade and commerce highlighted the growing potential of banking and insurance services between both countries, while offering novel and practical suggestions on fostering greater development and cooperation in this important sector. Some of Nishant’s observations on banking issues between the two nations were also mentioned in the leading Indian business daily, The Hindu Business Lines (click HERE to read more).
