DFDL Lao PDR is delighted to announce that two of its advisers, Mr. Lasonexay (La) Chanthavong and Mr. Bounyasith (Sith) Daopasith, have been elected to the Executive Committee of the Lao Bar Association for a three-year term.
This is second consecutive term for Lasonexay to serve on the committee. As part of his duties as a member of the International Relations Sub-committee, he regularly works with lawyers from around the world who come to Lao PDR to assist in the development of the legal system. Recently, Lasonexay traveled to Toulouse, France to work on the implementation of the partnership agreement between the Lao Bar Association the Toulouse Bar Association on further development of the Lao organization.
“I will be working on the continued development of the legal profession in Laos,” said Lasonexay. “We have many young lawyers who need additional training and advice to improve their skills and knowledge.”
This is Bounyasith’s second term as a member of the Executive Committee, as well. He previously served during the 2010-12 term. Bounyasith will be working on the training and legislative issues for the Bar.
“During my term my hope is to increase the number of Lao Bar members and to promote their skills and knowledge,” explained Bounyasith. ” Also, we will propose new ideas and provide input for amendments to existing laws, as per the needs of the Ministry of Justice.”
