Lao PDR Legal Update: Challenges and Opportunities for Solar Power Development – Correction

In the article ‘Lao PDR : Challenges and opportunities for solar power development’ in that was published on 11 May 2017. We stated that “limited progress has been made in the grid-connected solar sector, with only one existing rooftop solar system installation to date: a 236kW plant at Wattay International Airport.”

However, Sunlabob Renewable Energy — which has specialized in decentralized solar PV solutions in the Lao PDR since 2000, was kind enough to let us know that while the Wattay Airport project is the largest rooftop solar system installation, it is not the only one. Over the past three years, Sunlabob has developed over 150 kWs of rooftop solar installations, including the Vientiane offices of ANZ Bank, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
