DFDL Appoints Nishant Choudhary as New Myanmar Managing Director

We are excited to announce the appointment of Nishant Choudhary as Managing Director of DFDL Myanmar, succeeding William Greenlee in this role.

Nishant has been the Deputy Managing Director for the Myanmar office since May 2018 and has been based in Myanmar since 2014. From 2020, Nishant was closely involved in managing the challenging Myanmar developments, dealing with extremely sensitive situations on location and remotely.

Nishant’s client portfolio is diverse and features leading companies across various sectors; he has more than fifteen years of professional experience practicing law in India, Myanmar and Cambodia. He has been focusing on Myanmar since 2014, which remains his primary focus. Nishant has been instrumental for DFDL Myanmar’s development in the past several years, given his solid technical and commercial understanding of Myanmar laws and growing management role. In addition to leading DFDL’s Myanmar practice, Nishant heads DFDL’s regional dispute resolution practice and participates actively to the management of the regional banking and finance practice. Ranked by Chambers and Partners, IFLR and Asia Law, Nishant was also awarded as 40 EU-India Business Leader 2019, at the European Parliament at Brussels. Nishant is often quoted for his views on legal matters relating to Myanmar by several Myanmar and international newspapers. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business and Finance Law from the George Washington University Law School, Washington DC.

William will continue supporting the Myanmar office, primarily through his client works, and being involved with DFDL as a regional partner.

We want to take this opportunity to warmly congratulate Nishant on his new appointment and to acknowledge and give thanks to William for his years of contribution. Through his tenure, DFDL has only strengthened its positioning as leading law firm in the country, while facing unique variability in business circumstances, requiring a great sense of adaptation.
