On 30 March 2021, Jack Sheehan (Partner & Head of Regional Tax Practice, DFDL) was pleased to welcome three tax experts, Matt Andrew (Head of the Tax Treaty, Transfer Pricing, and Financial Transactions Division, OECD), Barbara Voskamp (Partner ASEAN, Loyens & Loeff) and Rachel Saw (Head of Asia Pacific, IBFD) to discuss recent international tax developments in Asia. Moderated by Jack, this one hour session gave the assembled attendees an insightful and animating overview of the current developments and trends making their presence felt on the tax landscape around Asia.
Matt discussed about the OECD’s Pillars 1 & 2 and recent COVID-19 transfer pricing developments within the region, while Rachel listed the key trends she has seen and the ‘YouTube tax’. Barbara’s discussed the Multilateral Instrument (“MLI”) and Principle Purpose Test (“PPT”) and their potential impacts on international tax structures.
