 Myanmar Minimum Wage Update

On 14 Oct 2025, the National Committee for Setting up the Minimum Wage (the “Committee”) announced an additional allowance to the daily minimum wage rate for workers in Myanmar.

The total minimum daily wage for an eight-hour workday is now 7,800 kyats (approximately USD 3.72). This amount reflects the base wage and a series of additional daily allowances introduced over time, as outlined below:

  1. Base Wage: The long-standing minimum wage of 4,800 kyats per day (600 kyats per hour), in effect since May 2018.
  2. Allowance 1: An additional 1,000 kyats per day became effective on 1 October 2023, for employers with 10 or more workers.
  3. Allowance 2: A second additional 1,000 kyats per day became effective on 1 August 2024, for employers with 10 or more workers.
  4. Allowance 3: The latest additional 1,000 kyats per day became effective on 1 October 2025, for employers with 10 or more workers.

Accordingly, the new minimum daily wage of 7,800 kyats applies to all eligible workers across various sectors, except for small businesses or family-owned businesses with fewer than 10 employees.

Employers with 10 or more workers must update payroll systems and internal policies to reflect the new total daily wage of 7,800 kyats for all qualifying employees and comply with applicable wage regulations.
