William D. Greenlee, Jr., Partner; Deputy Managing Director, Myanmar, was recently quoted in the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) article “How to Navigate Myanmar’s Oil & Gas Auction Risks” about the auctioning of deepwater offshore drilling blocks in Myanmar.
This is the third round of oil and gas auctions since 2011, but the process has developed to one with which large international companies will be more familiar, said William D. Greenlee, Jr.
As US and EU sanctions on Myanmar have been lifted, large multinational companies are experiencing fewer restrictions on their activities in Myanmar, also spanning to the relatively well-developed oil and gas sector. The more open investment environment as well as the auction of deepwater rights will likely attract large oil and gas companies to Myanmar.
