The Road to AEC & Mekong Region: Key Legal, Tax & Business Aspects for Investment, Bangkok, Thailand

Jack Sheehan, Partner, Regional Tax Practice Group, spoke at the Asia Business Connect’s The Road to AEC & Mekong Region 2015 and Beyond: Key Legal, Tax & Business Aspects for Investment on 12 November 2015.

Asia Business Connect organizes a range of expert seminars, conferences and training events to cater to the growing needs of the business sector in Thailand and other ASEAN member states.

Jack’s session on 12 November from 1:45–2:45pm outlined the recent trends in international and ASEAN tax regimes and examined the:

  • The impacts of regional integration on tax policies in ASEAN member states;
  • Recent developments in general anti-avoidance rules (GAAR), beneficial ownership, and substance requirements and how they are changing tax planning in Asia; and
  • Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand as ideal holding locations.

The seminar gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about investment in the AEC, related policy and regulatory changes, challenges and opportunities as well as opportunities to network with the industry’s key players.
