DFDL has collaborated with Nabarro LLP and Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) for this seminar on “A Changing World: International arbitration for commercial disputes in an integrated ASEAN and under EVFTA” on Tuesday, 14 June 2016 at Lotte Legend Hotel Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This seminar was organized by EuroCham Vietnam.
International commercial arbitration has risen in popularity with parties in Asia as a means of dispute resolution for resolving transnational commercial disputes. As the ASEAN markets continue on the path of integration, transnational economic activity is expected to grow, raising the need for fair and effective means of dispute resolution to match the increase in this transnational commercial activity.
Participants in this seminar heard from experts in international dispute resolution on effective dispute resolution for transnational investments and contracts within ASEAN. They discussed the following:
- The specific requirements for the drafting of effective dispute resolution clauses in contracts for investments in Vietnam and the impact of the recent international treaties on arbitration. – Mr. Jérôme Buzenet, Partner and Managing Director of DFDL Vietnam
- The fundamentals of international commercial arbitration as a means of resolving transnational commercial disputes. – Mr. Steven Lim, Managing Partner of Nabarro LLP in Singapore
