DFDL Chairman David Doran and Senior Counsel Walter Heiser made a 90 minute presentation on “The Lao PDR: A ydro Concession Laboratory” at the 6th International Conference on Water Resources and Hydropower Development in Asia, held in Vientiane on 1-3 March 2016.
The in-depth presentation outlined the evolution of concessions granted for Lao hydropower projects, identified key terms in concession agreements and assesses concession bankability in today’s development context. It also considered the suitability of the Lao concession model in neighboring countries.
The conference was a key event for the hydropower industry and included participants representing government, developers, construction, finance and legal, as well as social and environmental advocacy.
