US-Myanmar Economic Relations: The Path Forward

Monday, February 25, 2013 Yangon, Myanmar

Jim Finch, Country Director of DFDL’s practice in Myanmar, will be a panelist at the US-Myanmar Trade and Investment symposium “The path forward” organized by the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and The United States Chamber of Commerce on February 25, 2013, in Yangon, Myanmar.

This symposium will bring together senior business executives and government officials from both countries to identify Myanmar’s economic development priorities and objectives, explore opportunities for expanding U.S.-Myanmar trade and investment across a range of key industry sectors, and build business partnerships. Participants will include leading Myanmar business executives, U.S. executives participating in a US Chamber of Commerce business mission to Myanmar, other U.S. executives from around the ASEAN region, government officials from both countries, development specialists, academics, and others.

The symposium is part of a business mission to Yangon and Naypyidaw organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce taking place between February 24 and 28, 2013. Our partners William Greenlee and Angus Mitchell will join these series of meetings in Yangon and Naypyidaw where meetings with Ministers, members of parliament, and other senior officials are planned.

“This symposium provides the opportunity for free and open exchange of ideas from many sectors—both those from Myanmar and those from the US.” Jim Finch said.  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, located in Washington D.C., is the world’s largest business organization representing the interests of more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions.
