Surath Bhattacharjee, Senior Adviser at DFDL Myanmar, works in corporate, commercial, banking and finance, and data privacy matters. Before joining DFDL in 2023, he was a Senior Associate at a regional law firm (now Andersen Global), advising on corporate, foreign direct investment, and project financing across Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.

Since joining DFDL, Surath has actively worked on transactions including the sale of a luxury hotel in Yangon, loan restructuring for a Myanmar agricultural company, and share sales in Singapore and Myanmar companies. He routinely advises multinational clients on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and data protection. His expertise includes navigating Myanmar’s foreign exchange regulations, project structuring, loan restructuring, and asset leasing for oil and gas projects. Additionally, he has advised on due diligence and provided legal risk assessment for upstream oil and gas development.

A frequent speaker at EuroCham Myanmar and French Chamber of Commerce events, Surath covers topics such as energy, foreign exchange, and consumer goods. He recently contributed to ‘A Guide to Impact Investing in Southeast Asia’ for Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs. Fluent in English and Hindi, Surath serves a diverse client base effectively.
