DFDL Myanmar Junior Legal Adviser Jacobus du Plessis was recently quoted in the Myanmar Times newspaper. The article focused on Myanmar’s new online project database: a huge development for infrastructure development in the country. This project aims to change the way infrastructure programs are planned, determined, and funded. The centralized and publicly-accessible database will enable the government to coordinate ministries and departments and prioritize proposals that are in line with the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP). Jacobus observed and noted that the online database must also include technical specifications, types of project contracts and other essential details for investors to readily access and make informed decisions about. He further added that the main goal is to bring an element of consistency and planning to the projects as opposed to having them randomly suggested by businesses in the form of unsolicited proposals.
