Patrick guides clients through the complexities of international commerce, focusing on high-growth sectors such as technology, energy, infrastructure, mining, and finance. While grounded in expert contract drafting and negotiation for major transactions, his practice is increasingly centered on Vietnam’s rapidly evolving digital frontier. He is a key advisor on strategic areas including digital assets, data privacy, cybersecurity, and the expanding education sector.
With a career spanning nearly 18 years across multiple jurisdictions, Patrick brings a truly global perspective to his work. Prior to rejoining DFDL in 2025, his tenure as an in-house counsel for the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) provided him with an invaluable understanding of public-private sector dynamics. His experience also includes senior legal advisory roles in Mongolia, Australia, Germany, Korea, and Japan.
Patrick’s forward-looking counsel is supported by a robust academic background. He is a German-qualified lawyer, having passed the First and Second State Examinations in Law. His Master of Arts in International Politics and Law from Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg featured a thesis on software IP rights in China, directly informing his work with technology clients today. His credentials also include a Diploma in International Administration from Université Pierre Mendès France (Grenoble) and studies in International Relations at Tufts University (Boston).
